Good Work is a beer that has gained immense popularity in recent years. It’s a collaboration between Container Brewing and Race Face Performance Products (a locally based bicycle accessories brand with global reach), with the goal of raising funds for not for profit organizations that help better their community.
Each year the beer has received a custom label by artist Ariel Wickham who has been great to work with, and we look forward to working with her again for 2023.
In 2020 the organization that benefited was a group called Colour The Trails. They are dedicated to bringing BIPOC in BC + Alberta to the outdoors in a safe and educational way, running events such as hikes, kayak trips, and mountain bike mentorship programs.
2020 Label
In 2021 and 2022 the funds were directed to newly created grants by IMBA Canada. These grants invest in local clubs that want to do good work in their communities. This helped clubs that want to tackle big issues (like Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion), increase adaptive ridership, mentor new generations of riders, promote sustainable trails and build partnerships with other stakeholders.
2021 Label
In 2022, while the quantity of beer sold didn’t change, we were able to increase the donation to IMBA due to industry partners donating inputs. We will be asking our partners for this donation again for 2023.
2022 Label
While the direction for the 2023 funds has not been decided as of yet, we want to continue in a similar vein as in the past. Being focussed on bettering people by leveraging the outdoors as those are brand ethos of both Container and Race Face.
2023 Label
…we would like to work with BCL to create it.
Good Work has been successful in BC private liquor stores in 2020 selling approximately 175 cases through that channel.
Nearly twice that number of cases were sold in 2021 and 2022 through both BC and AB private liquor stores.
In 2023, the goal is to sell between 350 and 700 cases of Good Work exclusively in BC, and exclusively through BCL stores via a one-time buy program.
This is a great opportunity for beer enthusiasts to support a good cause while enjoying a high-quality beer. Not only does it provide an opportunity to raise funds for a deserving group, but it also promotes a small, new local brewery to a broader audience and encourages people to try a new beer.
By selling Good Work exclusively at BCL stores, we can reach a wider audience and increase its sales, which would lead to more funds raised. This initiative will also help in creating awareness among the people about the importance of supporting local businesses and giving back to the community.
This is a win-win-win situation for the beer lovers, the community, as well as for the BCL. By working with Container Brewing for a one-time buy program of the Good Work beer, the BCL will introduce Container Brewing to beer enthusiasts across the province who are looking to make a difference in their community while enjoying a delicious and refreshing beer. Additionally this showcases that the BCL cares about local producers, as well as the communities they operate in.
Over the past 3 years of producing Good Work it has garnered a lot of press, ensuring a high sales velocity and demand. 2023 will be no different, and by partnering with the BCL to make this an exclusive product, it will move even quicker with these same media outlets announcing that the only place to get Good Work is at BCL stores.
